Feghouli believes Fennecs can do big things

Algeria’s winger Sofiane Feghouli believes that the ‘Fennecs’ can achieve a major feat in Brazil, following their 4-2 victory over Korea Republic in Porto Alegre in their second World Cup outing on Sunday.

“We are on track to do something special at these World Cup finals. We will do everything to achieve the feat of qualifying for the next round,” Feghouli told Lebuteur.com.

After falling to Belgium in their opening Group H encounter, the Algerians managed to bounce back in style, becoming the first African side ever to score four goals in a single World Cup finals match.

“After a bitter defeat to Belgium, we approached our game against Korea Republic with the firm commitment to win. We said to each other that we had to assume our responsibilities and show our strength on the field,” he added.

Now lying second in their Group H on three points, Algeria have all the cards in hand ahead of their final clash with Russia to reach the round of 16.

“We are proud of what we have achieved against Korea Republic, but we need to keep our feet on the ground and get back to work as we still have a tough game against Russia.

“Every game is different from the other. We are going to face a solid Russian team. We will have to study the game of our opponents. But we first need to recover well to prepare for this match.”

The two teams will meet on June 26 in Curitiba.
