Can NFF really touch Enyeama?

First Stephen Keshi, probably next on the Nigeria Football Federation list is probably Nigeria captain Vincent Enyeama. But, there might not be much the board can do to their skipper.

Enyeama may have played his last game for his country if the recommendations of the NFF disciplinary committee are anything to go by.

There is already talk that the senior hierarchy of the NFF want to strip Enyeama of his captaincy following his comments about the safety of Kaduna before last month's (June) Nigeria - Chad Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in the northern Nigeria city.

Even if he is recalled to the national team, he may no longer wear the captain’s armband because the NFF view his actions before and after the game against Chad as bad example for other players, also he didn't show up for the disciplinary committee hearing."

It's probably all they can do to the Super Eagles icon. After all, Enyeama first capped in 2001 and is now the most capped Nigeria star with 101 appearances. He is still, arguably, the best African in his position and the only Nigerian who gets to make such a boast.

And that's why the NFF don't have much of a stick to beast Enyeama with. He's coming to the end of his international career. After the World Cup in Brazil he thought long and hard about retiring. Clearly he isn't thinking about being a Buffon or Given. If he doesn't like what the NFF tell him expect him to quit.

Nigeria still need him. Not just for his ability between the sticks, but also for the experience he can give to a team that is rebuilding.
