Zubairu causes Belgian stir

Exciting Nigerian midfielder Abdul Zubairu, who plays for AS Trencin, is set to move to one of Belgium's top clubs.

It is understood that club Brugge had initially showed interest in the player who has been compared by many to French international N'Golo Kante, however it appears he might be heading to a different club.

Clubs from the Premier League including Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton are also tracking the midfielder's progress and have had their scouts watch him at close quarters.

The player's agent Tony Harris has refused to comment on the destination of Zubairu but confirmed that the player is doing very well and naturally has drawn interests.

“Zubairu is doing well and naturally he is drawing interests. When there’s news you’ll know,” Harris said.

The 19-year-old Nigerian midfielder is rated as one of the best players in Slovakia following his heroics on the pitch with AS Trencin.

Blessed with immense talent and a prodigious work rate, Zubairu is a tireless midfielder who runs non-stop and covers a whole lot of ground. He has the ability and vision to break and initiate attack.

Zubairu, a product of the successful GBS academy in Nigeria which produced Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Kalu Samuel and Hillary Gong, will face Dutch club Feyenord in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday.
