Leicester ready to reward Ndidi

Super Eagle Wilfred Ndidi has insisted he has never thought about leaving Leicester City as the club prepares to offer the midfielder a new contract.

Nigeria international Ndidi has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League since his £15million move to the King Power Stadium from Genk last January and won more tackles than anyone in the division last season.

The 21-year-old City star has since taken those talents to the World Cup in Russia. His 15 tackles were the most of any player in the group stages while Ndidi is still joint-second in the overall list, despite Nigeria being knocked out after just three games.

Ndidi was linked with Liverpool in January with reports this summer of interest from Arsenal, but the midfielder has said he is happy at the King Power Stadium.

"A transfer has never been on my mind," Ndidi has been quoted as saying during the World Cup. "I feel very good at Leicester.

Leicester are now set to reward Ndidi with a new contract.

Ndidi has been vocal about his commitment to Leicester before. Reports emerged last summer that included quotes from someone claiming to be Ndidi's agent which said the midfielder was keen on making a move to Manchester United.

Ndidi contacted City to tell them it was not true before posting in Twitter: "Please be informed this information is not true, I'm 200 per cent with Leicester and I don't know this person."
