RB want Lookman on permanent deal

RB Leipzig are set to test Everton’s resolve over Ademola Lookman this summer.

Lookman spent the second-half of the season on loan with the Bundesliga outfit and impressed with five goals and four assists in 11 appearances.

The 20-year-old enjoyed his experience in the German top flight and will seek talks with Everton’s new manager once the club have found a replacement for Sam Allardyce, to learn if he features in the plans at Goodison,

Last month Leipzig’s sporting director Ralf Rangnick said he would like to keep Lookman and the ECHO has learned they plan to make an offer this summer.

The Blues eventually agreed to grant the winger his wish but wanted him to go to Championship side Derby County.

Lookman, however, was set on Leipzig and his persistence paid off after a fine stint in Germany in which he has won a host of new admirers around Europe.

Everton’s director of football Marcel Brands watched Lookman play for Leipzig and has insisted that the club’s new manager must want to work with young players.

Before Allardyce was axed he confirmed that the Blues would be prepared to listen to offers for Lookman and Leipzig are set to test their resolve on a player who joined in January 2017 in a deal worth around £10m.
