Balogun completes Brighton move

Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Nigerian international defender Leon Balogun from Mainz on a two year deal.

Balogun was out of contract at Mainz this summer and Brighton have brought him to the Amex Stadium on a free transfer.

The 29-year-old, who can play at centre-back and full-back, made 15 appearances in all competitions for Mainz this season as they managed to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.

Balogun, who has won 16 caps for Nigeria, helped the Super Eagles qualify for this summer's World Cup and he is set to feature for his country in Russia next month.

"Leon will add more depth to our defensive options," said Brighton manager Chris Hughton.

"I am pleased to get our first piece of business done so early in the summer. He is in the peak years of his career and I am sure he will integrate well into the squad.

"He also has valuable experience, having played in the Bundesliga, the Europa League and at international level."

Brighton are also closing in on PSG starlet Moussa Sissako, claim RMC.

The Seagulls have agreed a four-year deal for the promising centre-back.

The 17-year-old will reject profession terms with the Ligue 1 champions to embark on a career in England.
