Algeria set up friendlies

Algeria have set up some prime friendlies ahead of the finals in Russia in June.

The Algerians will play against World Cup bound Portugal in Lisbon on either June 7 or 8, the federation confirmed on Wednesday.

Portugal have picked Algeria as an opponent because they share the same World Cup group with Morocco and want to scrimmage as a team with a similar playing style.

It will also be a potentially emotive return to Portugal for Algeria coach Rabah Madjer, whose back heeled goal helped FC Porto to win their first European Cup in 1987.

In March, Algeria are also to play a friendly against Iran, who are also in the same World Cup group as Portugal and Spain.
