Musonda turned down loan move

Charly Musonda is said to have turned down the offer of first-team football away from Chelsea in the summer.

Musonda hit out at Chelsea’s handing of young players earlier this week in a cryptic message on Instagram.

He posted: ”You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what's expected, and often more than you can, because you love what you do and clearly more than you should.

"And what do you get back? Literally nothing… done.

"However, with this being said I will continue with same dedication and commitment to this great game."

But Belgian football journalist Kristof Terreur claims Musonda had the option of first-team football this season but rejected the chance to go out on loan in the summer.

Terreur tweeted: “The odd thing about the Charly Musonda Jr Instagram rant: he insisted on staying at Chelsea during the summer.

“A loan was never a real option.”

Musonda, 20, is one of the hottest prospects in Belgian football but has struggled to break into Antonio Conte’s first-team plans.

He was sent out on loan to La Liga outfit Real Betis last season and has managed just one minute of Premier League football this term.

Chelsea have offloaded the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne in the past and gone on to rue letting the Belgian stars leave.

However, Terreur reckons Musonda’s situation is different because they had already established themselves as first-team regulars before they joined Chelsea.

He added: “Fans like to compare the Musonda situation to KDB and Lukaku. Small difference: both had played 150+ games at the same age and had won titles elsewhere.”
