Senegal need to learn lesson of this afcon

Senegal defender Kara M’Bodji says his team needs to learn from their experiences at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Teranga Lions exited the tournament last night after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Algeria. The West Africans came into the game as group leaders,

but the result against the Fennec Foxes, combined with Ghana’s win over South Africa, saw them drop to third on the standings.

“We are really disappointed because there was room to achieve something,” said M’Bodji after the match.

“To concede a goal in the first 15 minutes against a good team hit us. We wanted to come back and we pushed, but we couldn’t make the difference.

“They scored a second goal and it was all over then. That is football.”

M’Bodji emphasised that Senegal lacked experience of the Nations Cup and need to learn from this adventure in Equatorial Guinea.

“Most of the players experienced their first AFCON. We need to draw the consequences from it. There was some positive too. We need to get back to work and try to come back soon.”
