Drogba celebrates at home

Didier Drogba joined the celebrations of Ivory Coast’s achievement of winning the African cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea last night.

The Elephant legend and former Captain had led the team to two other finals in Egypt 2006 and Gabon-Equatorial Guinea in 2012 when they lost on both occasions on penalties to Egypt and Zambia respectively.

He watched from the comfort of his home in London as his compatriots battled through another gruelling finals that also ended goaless and the nerve racking penalty shootout that ensued once again.

It was pure agony turned to ecstasy as Drogba posted a video on his Instagram account showing the moment when Copa Barry’s last kick sealed the victory, and he jumped for joy alongside his family.

After the game Kolo Toure paid tribute to Drogba while celebrating.

"We owe a lot top Didier Drogba, Aruna Dindane, Didier Zokora and many of our team-mates who toiled through the years to build this team."

Herve Renard also weighed in, saying: "Our victory was not achieved in one month, maybe ten years and we owe Didier Driogba and many of his team-mates and coaches who helped to shape this team over a long period when they stayed on top."
